Google Calendar is an awesome product, but each one of us has his or her personal preferences. Some users might prefer to use Outlook rather than the latter. By syncing both applications, you have the option of choosing the one you prefer to use. And the good news is that you don’t have to pay for an exchange server as you would normally would have. It is also a good way for users to gradually get used to using the cloud.
Below is a quick guide on how you can do it:
How-to Sync Google Calendar with Outlook step by step
Download Google Calendar Sync and install
Under Email, Key in your Google email account id and password you use for your Google Calendar.
Under “Sync Options” choose “2-way” for full synchronization. (refer to image above)
Choose how often synchronization happens by keying in desired number of minutes. (refer to image above) You probably want something like 5min.
If the sync does not work, it can be due to 2 reasons:
You are using the Free version. You need to upgrade to Google Apps for Business or Education.
You need an admin to enable it: Your Google Apps Administrator needs to go into the Apps Control Panel and under Email settings, check the box next to the setting indicated below.
